Portraits of people at work need to show the role played by that person as well as the personality of the individual. The more corporate the image the more strongly the image is styled to emphasise the persons role and skills that he brings to his job. (And the less emphasis on the persons qualities as an individual).
The first image is a story telling, scene setting corporate image that focuses in on the work environment. These are useful shots for conveying an aspirational image that the company wants to project. In other words, the office space here may not be the actual office space that the corporate body works from.
